What We Offer

Practical Grant & Communications Support For Community-Focused Organizations

Birch + Ink Communications helps non-profits, rural and community organizations take their next step with clarity and confidence.

As a new consulting practice built on more than 15 years of professional writing and editorial experience, Birch + Ink focuses on foundational grant readiness, strategic research and clear communications — the building blocks that support successful funding and sustainable growth.

A Great Fit

Birch + Ink is a good fit if your organization:

  • Is an incorporated non-profit, charity or community association

  • Has active programming and a defined mission

  • Is new to grant writing or lacks internal capacity

  • Operates with a small team or volunteer board

  • Understands that grants are competitive and not guaranteed

Grant Readiness Assessment — $450

Before applying for grants, organizations need to be fundable.

This assessment evaluates whether your organization and project are realistically ready to pursue funding — and what needs to be strengthened first.

Includes:

  • Review of organizational structure and governance

  • Confirmation of eligibility (non-profit/charitable status, funder alignment)

  • High-level financial readiness check

  • Project clarity and capacity review

  • Identification of gaps, risks, and priorities

You receive:

  • A clear readiness score

  • A written summary of strengths and gaps

  • Practical recommendations for next steps

This assessment is required before full grant writing services are offered.

2

Grant Research & Funding Discovery — $450–$900

Finding the right grants is as important as writing strong applications.

This service provides targeted research and strategic guidance to help you focus on funding opportunities that align with your organization, capacity and goals.

Includes:

  • Curated list of relevant grants (local, provincial, federal, and foundation)

  • Eligibility screening and alignment notes

  • High-level timelines and planning considerations

  • Strategic guidance on which opportunities to prioritize

Pricing is based on organizational complexity and the number of programs or initiatives under review.

Note: Inclusion in a funding list does not guarantee eligibility or funding.

3

Grant Rewrite & Improvement — $450–$1,200

If you already have a draft application but need it strengthened, clarified or better aligned with funder priorities, this service focuses on improving what’s already there.

Best for:

  • Previously unsuccessful applications

  • Drafts prepared internally by staff or volunteers

  • Tight deadlines where a full rewrite isn’t appropriate

Includes:

  • Structural and narrative improvements

  • Alignment with funder language and criteria

  • Clarity, flow, and consistency edits

  • Compliance and completeness review

Pricing depends on the level of revision required (light edits to full overhaul.)

4

Strategic Grant Writing (Selective) — By quote

Full grant application writing is offered selectively and only after a Grant Readiness Assessment.

This ensures applications are realistic, compliant and aligned with your organization’s capacity.

Important notes:

  • Birch + Ink does not guarantee funding outcomes

  • Not all grants are a good fit — recommendations are made strategically

  • Complex or high-risk applications may be declined

Pricing varies by grant size, complexity and requirements and is confirmed in advance.

Important Notes About Grant Writing

  • Funding decisions are made solely by funders

  • No grant writer can guarantee funding outcomes

  • Timelines depend on funder deadlines and review cycles

Birch + Ink provides professional writing and strategic support — not promises of funding.
